An IP address range is a collection of multiple IP addresses. An ISP's (Internet Service Provider) IP infrastructure consists of reserved IP ranges with IP addresses they assign to users of their networks.

How are IP ranges represented?

IP address ranges are represented in different formats. Here is an example of a private network IPv4 range that contains 65,536 IP addresses between 192.168.0.0 and 192.168.255.255 given in a wildcard format and CIDR format:

Wildcard 192.168.*.*

CIDR 192.168.0.0/16

How does ClickGUARD use IP ranges?

ClickGUARD logs public IP addresses of devices making ad clicks by using the Google Ads tracking template. This allows the system to combine them into IP ranges and perform protective and optimization actions on Google Ads campaigns - by excluding IP ranges related to low-performing or fraudulent ad traffic.
