After installing the tracking code, it's essential to verify that it’s functioning properly. There are a few methods you can use to confirm that the tracking code is up and running as expected.
1. Check the Tracking Code Notification Icon
If the tracking code has not been installed on your website, you will see a warning banner with a checklist alerting you to the issue. This serves as an immediate indication that the code is either missing or not correctly set up.
Once the system detects the tracking code is installed and working correctly, the warning banner will disappear, signaling everything is in order.
2. Monitor Organic Clicks
Another way to verify the tracking code is functioning is by checking for organic traffic. Navigate to the Clicks page, switch to the Live Monitoring tab, and select Organic Traffic. If organic traffic is visible in the live monitoring, this confirms that the tracking code is actively collecting data.
3. Analyze Behavior Data for Paid Clicks
To ensure visitor behavior is being accurately tracked for paid clicks, go to the Clicks page and apply filters to show paid traffic. In the Device and Behavior columns, you should begin to see data such as device IDs and behavior metrics (e.g., time spent, page views), which indicates that the tracking code is functioning correctly for paid traffic.
